| Can I add drop shadow to the text to zones that support text? | Yes you can. We support the all the standard options that you would find in any application that supports text. These features also include underline, strike through, and color. |
| Is it possible to control the background color of each zone? | Yes. Depending on the zone you can control the color with in the application or build a background layer in your favorite graphics editor. |
| Does NexGen DS support adding borders to zones? | Yes its possible to add basic borders to the Date and Time, Title, Movie, Photo, RSS and Web Zones |
| What options are available for the basic border features? | You have control over the color and width of the zone border. |
| Can we have the ability to do change the length of the dissolve for the photo zone? | No not at this time. However we are adding this to our feature list. |
| Can I add a live video feed to the Movie zone? | Yes. We support any QuickTime compatible camera or video device. If QuickTime recognizes the device as a valid I/O device NexGen DS will as well. |
| What I/O devices does NexGen DS support? | Any of the Canopus converters, DeckLink or AJA cards. Call if you have a device that you would like to check on compatibility. |
| If I am using a Mac Mini how would I bring in a Live video source into the Movie zone? | Using a D to A video converter like the ADVC55 from Grass Valley you can easily convert a analog video digital via firewire. The NexGen DS software will recognize signal as a valid video signal to display in the Movie Zone. |
| What video formats does NexGen DS support? | Most QuickTime formats including DV, DVCPro, DV PAL, WMV, H.264, Photo Jpeg, .MOV |
| What image formats does NexGen DS support? | Most QuickTime image formats including PSD, BMP, JPEG, Targa, PICT, PNG, and TIFF (for best performance please limit your photo’s/images to no more than 300k) |
| What photo transitions come standard with the NexGen DS software | Dissolve. Flash, Mod, Page Curl, Ripple, Swipe, Cope Machine, swipe and disintegrate with Mask |
| Can I publish my project full screen to my HDTV? | Yes NexGen DS supports both portrait and landscape resolutions |
| Can I manage multiple signs? If so how. | Sure. Using tools like remote desktop from Apple you can not only manage multiple signs but also update each one and verify proof of play. |
| How can I update my sign remotely | When a NexGen DS project is saved, we save the project as a package. The package contains of the elements that make up the project. Using a tool like Apple remote desktop you can easily upload the package to the remote machine for playback. |
| Can I view my sign from a remote system for proof of play? | With an Apple remote or VNC connection you can view each sign on your network for proof of play from any internet connected system with access to the player. |
| Can I connect multiple monitors to one player and have separate NexGen DS projects playing back on each monitor? | No not at this time but we are open to suggestions. |
| Can I connect one player and have the output mirrored to multiple displays? | Yes absolutely |
| Can I set my photo’s to play in sequence? | Yes absolutely. When photos are added to a play-list they are played in the order that they are added if you do not specify a specific time for playback. |
| Can I set my movie’s to play in sequence? | Yes absolutely. When movies are added to a play-list they are played in the order that they are added if you do not specify a specific time for playback. |
| Can I schedule multiple projects for playback? | Yes absolutely. You can schedule projects with a default cross dissolve and define how long the project plays. |
| Can I customize my project to include only the zones that I need? | Yes you have the freedom to add or delete any zone for a custom display output for your organization. |
| Can I publish my project out to a smaller display that is not HD? | Yes the NexGen DS software will automatically resize the output to fit the display screen. |
| Can I use a project with NexGen DS software? | Sure. If you can connect it to the monitor output port on the Mac we will support it. |
| How would I connect the player to my HDTV? | Depending on which Mac you are using you will connect the monitor output to the HDTV via DVI or HDMI. |
| Can I use Quartz Composer projects in NexGen DS? | Yes. |
| Can I add background music to the project? | Yes you can add music using the background zone in NexGen DS. |
| Is it possible to add a custom splitter image to the RSS zone? | Absolutely. |
| What color adjustments come in the Movie Zone? | You can adjust the brightness, contrast, Hue, and saturation on the fly with a live update while the adjustments are made. |
| Can I schedule a start time for multiple movies? | Yes using the Movie scheduler you can schedule multiple movies to play at scheduled times during the day or night. |
| How do I publish my finish project? | Simply press the publish button in the NexGen DS software. |
| How do I create NexGen DS templates? | Simply create and save your project. Any saved NexGen DS project can be a template. |
